The Sweater From Heaven

Recently,  I thrifted this adorable black and gold sweater from goodwill.  It's so ridiculously warm and comfy that I don't think I will ever be able to part from it. By the way, please excuse my exposed bra straps. I just threw the sweater in my bag to change into after my choir concert, so I wasn't exactly thinking about the bra i was wearing. I also happened to forget to pack actual pants, so, though I am completely against the whole "leggings for pants" movement, i just had to make do with what i had. It wasn't as uncomfortable as I thought it would be because of the forgiving length of the sweater. :-)
The brick walls, chain-link fences, and trees around my school served as a perfect setting for this little photo-shoot. (The photos were taken by my friend Genesis while we were supposed to be doing homework. I guess that's what happens when you leave two fashion-crazed sixteen-year-old girls alone at their school for an entire afternoon.)

I must admit that I am truly in love with this sweater and i'm quite pleased at how the photos turned out, though i have been advised several times to get a real professional camera. Sadly, i'm a sixteen-year-old girl with no job who gets an allowance of fifteen dollars a week, so it looks like my samsung galaxy s3 phone will just have to do for now.

tata for now :-)

My First DIY :-)

For a couple of years now, I've spent a large amount of my time online searching for cool and cute diy projects. Sadly,  I've never actually gotten a chance to successfully complete a diy project. But, I guess the stomach bug that I caught somehow or another was actually a blessing. I stayed home from school today, and, overcome by boredom, I decided to put a pair of dark-wash mom jeans (pictured above) to use. I've had these jeans for about two years and recently realized that i would probably be very unlikely to wear them because they just aren't my style. So, I thought, why not make a pair of high-waisted shorts of them? It was amazingly simple. I just cut the shorts where i wanter them to stop and cuffed them upwards. The end result was a great fitting and flattering pair of shorts.

I Come From A Land Far, Far Away

A  couple of weeks ago we had spirit/homecoming week at my school. One of the days was red carpet day, and I was completely opposed to wearing the classic "red dress" that i knew others would be wearing. At first i thought of just wearing a nice blazer, pants, and heels. I changed my mind when i realized that I had to include just a little bit more bling and flashiness. I mean, that is what Hollywood is about, right. So i swapped the navy blazer for a vinrage metallic jacket that i found on one of my many adventures through the land of thrift. I switched the pants for a more youthful and (to my mother's dismay) more "smexy" peplum mini skirt. I kept my snakeskin heels, which happen to be my favorite pair of heels, and added dangly earrings, and ankle bracelet, and a fedora for my own touch. Now THIS is how i would dress if I was famous... When i walked into the school building the next morning, I was astonished at the large number of girls who chose to wear the classic "red carpet dress". I definitely stood out and spent the entire day accepting compliments and of cof course giving them back out. Even if there was a complete lack of individuality that day, everyone still looked flawless.

Designer Fashions, Thrifty Prices

This is an "old" picture from when I volunteered at a prayer luncheon in honor of MLK.  (Lord knows I needed the community service hours :-)). The luncheon went nicely though I was barely able to focus because of all the compliments I received. There were tons of people saying "oh your dress is wonderful" and "it's such a daring choice for a teen to cut her hair so short. There was even a woman who absolutely REFUSED to believe that i was only sixteen. I completely understand this since i look so much older when i wear makeup :-)..Anyways i just wanted to post this since it is one of my favorite looks..

Dress:Guess trifted from a local goodwill for only ten dollars (I almost passed out when I tried It on and it fit)

So hi :-)...my name is Viennetta. First of all you're probably wondering how the heck you're supposed to prounounce my name. it's Viennetta (pronounced vee-eh-neh-tuh).
Anyways i'm just a sixteen-year-old from Memphis, Tn. I'm a slave to all things fashion and beauty related, and i love to write so i thought i'd just...you know...make a blog. And i'm also a thrift-shopping junkie, so don't be surprised if a lot of the clothes i wear are thrifted .. but enough of that. Here's the outfit i wore to my friends sweet sixteen party
